Out of Pocket

I've been out of pocket for the last week or so. I've spent a week with Snoopy, am at my parents now, and will be going to Pennsylvania with Snoopy next week. After that, I'm going to lie low until school starts back, maybe there will be one or two beach trips, but nothing major.

I haven't blogged since my wreck. This was not too bad, but I think it was the death knell in my car's life. I just don't want to deal with the crap of getting the crap car repaired. The benevolent Mrs. C. is letting me borrow a car in the interim. I think I have a plan for a new car (to me, thanks to Mrs. C.), but don't want to jinx it, so I'll save that. Basically, the dude ran the stop sign at the intersection I was crossing at the time. Odd, right? Well, fortunately, neither of us were hurt and my friend Snoopy was there pretty quickly for back up. I was only a few minutes late to the workshop on co-teaching that I was attending.

My momma just came in and wanted me to tell all of you hello for her.

I have a quick workshop tomorrow and will be back to Bubba Sr. and Granny's before 3:00p.m. After that, I'm free, pretty much until the beginning of school. How sweet it is, and only about a month after getting out of school!

Happy week to all!

Monday.

Okay, after a 3-day weekend, I find myself VERY tired.

Friday, we went to the St. Patty's Day 5K at City Market in Savannah. While Snoopy was running, Fiona and I ate at Tapas by Anna. DELICIOUS. Then, after the run, Snoopy had a MONSTER chicken Parmesan sandwich.

I started a new 5K plan today that I found on the Fitness website. Instead of the 4 miles it recommended, I decided to work out for an hour. This resulted in 3.74 miles. I am tired.

One day I'll do a rant, but frankly, I'm just tuckered out.

Sunday and I'm Exhausted!

Well, the big news in my world is that dear friend and colleague, Snoopy completed the Tybee Island Half-Marathon yesterday. I am SO proud of her. She estimated that she'd take 2 hours and 30 minutes. Her time was 2:29! She SO rocks. It's truly awesome. Really awesome, not just me throwing around the word awesome indiscriminantly. I'm so impressed, I think I may be getting ready for a 5k. Just a 5k, I'm not interested in a half marathon for myself.

Also, on the way back, (Did I mention Fiona & I accompanied Snoopy to the race?) we stopped by the mall. Barnes and Noble damage! But the best thing ever is my new bag. I've been searching high and low, mostly online, but nothing I liked that was in my price range. I went into Belk at the mall yesterday, walked through all the Dooney & Bourkes, Aigners, Coaches, or whatever. Then, I saw it. A minty green satchel. It had light shining from above on it. It was the only one left. I swear I heard angels singing when I saw it. It had SILVER hardware! And the minty green was so light, it's a neutral. WOWSERS! I knew I had to have it regardless of the price. The bag was a Nine West, so I knew it wouldn't be outrageously priced. I checked the price tag: $75. Well, that was a little more than I wanted to pay, but $75 is not bad for the PERFECT bag, right? Well, I saw a sign that had this glorious information on it: Handbags 40% off! So, for under $50, I got the perfect bag. Color me ecstatic.

The grant proposal is still out there. We're still working on it. This thing is WAY difficult. I am NOT enjoying this. I am just repeating to myself, ELMO, ELMO, ELMO, Smartboard, Smartboard, Smartboard. These are my favorite items of the bounty we will receive if we get the grant. If we don't get it, then we don't.

Well, I went off the rails last week with eating AND with exercise. I'm going to try to get back on track today. Will do cardio and BodyPump.

Friday Night Dinner

Okay, here's my tasty dinner from last night. I opened up the hamburger to show the delicious-looking, fresh veggies on it! How cute is this plate? This meal was AWESOME. I realize that this is NOT contributing to me making less of myself, but it was somewhat celebratory in that we are out of school ALL next week. P.S. I am 77, so I had the decaf! Actually, it was a little chilly.

Ah, yes. We're out of school all next week. I'm planning on getting only a few things done. I have very few aspirations. I know this is totally underwhelming, but that's how I'm rolling.

Back to the important issue: dinner. Snoopy, Fiona, and I supped at Ruby Tuesday last night. I like the recent transformation they've undergone. It's kind of funny because we tried the new Chili's, but alas, it was full to capacity and the girls wanted to eat within the hour. Service was nothing short of excellent and the food tasted GOOD. Yum-O, to quote someone off my favorite porn station-- The Food Network. Yeah, obnoxious Rachel Ray does have some applicable expressions even though sometimes I'd like to tell her to turn her perkiness down about 5 notches.

Plans for today? Gym 3ish, Bunco 6ish, and then home early to bed 10ish so I can get up and go to church 8:30ish.

It's Going to Be a Changing Day (with apologies to Dr. Phil)

Hey, I may never be the same. I watched TWO, yes TWO movies today. The first was The Prestige. Hugh Jackman is a wonder and Christian Bale is very good. But, no one can hold a candle to the inimitable Michael Caine. He is AWESOME. This movie is SO enthralling. I really enjoyed it!

BUT, I will never be the same for I have seen The Godfather. Wow, how good was this movie!?! I was so happy that it REALLY lives up to the hype. The initial wedding scene was a little draggy, but it was necessary for little details to be divulged all at the same time, I suppose. BTW, who am I to question Francis Ford Coppola's methods. I know my role and am shutting my hole. It IS a great movie. I can't wait to see parts 2 and 3.

Another thing. How fantastic is Robert Duvall? I didn't even know he was in these movies. He is so excellent in everything that he has ever done. Ramling Rose and The Prophet are two excellent movies also, but I had no idea how powerful his performance is in The Godfather.
Big ups to my friend Snoopy who not only recommended these movies, but also let me borrow them from her vast DVD library! Thanks, friend!

I Love Being From Georgia!

Okay, thanks to the author of this fine blog: http://dare-to-tri.blogspot.com/ I decided to get on it and add a little music to my blog. Thanks Teacherwoman! I had started a project playlist playlist back several months ago. I started adding a little to it today and voila! I'm very pleased with most of it. Some seem to be a little loud, so apologies in advance.

Back to the topic at hand. I am SO happy to be from the south, generally and Georgia, specifically. This is not an indictment of the north. I know people who are from there and love it. My sister lived in Detroit for a year-and-a-half and would go back if our parents weren't down here. Anyway! I heard the state song of Georgia, which is, of course, "Georgia on My Mind." Although I like Willie Nelson's version, the only version of Hoagy Carmichael's awesome song is Ray Charles. It was written in 1930 as a collaboration of Carmichael and Stuart Gorrell. The lyrics were written by Gorrell for Carmichael's sister Georgia, according to Wikipedia.

Go ahead, scroll down and take a listen to one of the finest songs you'll hear. Also, there's "Stars Fell on Alabama" which is a mighty fine song also, and I can't believe that it's not the state song. The "stars" refer to a meteor shower or something like that I recall hearing.

Here's a listing of the state songs. Come on Tennessee, make a decision. http://www.50states.com/songs/

Well, that's all I've got right now. Went with Snoopy and Fiona shopping almost all day. Exhausted.

Cross-Country Team Wins

Whoa! Today it was AWESOME. Both boys' and girls' teams won! It's fantastic. I'm SO excited. We went up against a couple of teams in our region, so the competition was early season, slightly slow, but the kids were unbelievable. Snoopy is the coach. Go Snoopy!

It's only 8:00, but I could go to bed right now. I think I'll stay up a little longer. It seems as if I can't get enough sleep, but leaving here before 6:00 doesn't quite allow me to get my full night's rest. I actually seem to be more productive when I work in the quiet building EARLY in the morning. I am gonna go to bed early. I love when I get an early-to-bed early in the week.

Sorry I can't contribute more. I'll check in tomorrow!

So, how did I spend my last free day?

Well, I have done very little. I watched "The View" because John Travolta and Queen Latifah were on there hawking Hairspray. I was excited to hear that Sherry Sheppard will likely be one of the replacement people. I like her. Whoopi, not so much. I think Whoopi is very funny, but am not sure how I'll feel about her moderating. I'm on a totally different political plain than she is. A friend of mine, Mrs. C. (not to be confused with Marion Cunningham, she's certainly not that) said that Whoopi was okay. I'll have to wait and see.

I bought some organizational tubs and Supermom got me some folders, so when I'm through with this, I'm gonna go in there and get some semblance of a storage order for my closet. I have one tiny closet, so it houses clothes and a lot of other items.

I chose not to go to the gym again today. I AM going to get up and go tomorrow. Mrs. C. wants me to go to the yoga-ish class, and I really can't come up with a good reason for not going. I am planning on treadmilling prior to that.

Have I told you about my friend and colleague Snoopy? Snoopy is undoubtedly the best teacher in my school. Snoopy teaches the WHOLE person, addressing scholastic needs, but realizing that if personal needs aren't met, then scholastic needs don't even matter. She has turned out to be one of the people in this world that I trust the most. She hasn't a judgmental bone in her body. And, most importantly, Snoopy does the hamster dance like it's her business. With relish and reckless abandon. And yes, children have been scarred by seeing this manifestation of joy. Also, she can't wait until fall comes and Starbuck's starts serving pumpkin lattes.

Grandmomma and Bubba will be visiting The Child tomorrow. So I'd better go tidy up for their visit. Happy day to all!
