State Cross-Country Meet

Well, the old team got itself together to go to the state meet in Carrolton this weekend and a good time was had by all. Additionally, some of the more astute members of the team realized how FO' REALZ cross-country running can be. We saw some awesome finished among the girls' AA, boys' A, girls' A, and boys' AAAAA. Wow!

I had never witnessed anything like this. Snoopy has taken teams before, but wow, this was something really special. People eat, sleep, and breathe cross-country at some places. We have students who do it for a season and see it as a way to keep in shape for other sports. I think we may have several converts to the FO' REALZ group. Not many, because some of the kids just don't get out that much and were amazed by the Atlanta skyline. Don't get me wrong, the Atlanta skyline is fantastic, but I think you know what I mean. Regardless (or irregardless as Snoopy is fond of saying {BTW, she knows it's wrong}), there will be a change for the better in the cross-country team, I predict.

As far as what happened, we left noonish on Friday. Snoopy drove the "short bus" through rush hour traffic magnificiently and got us to Villa Rica at about 5 o'clock. We crashed at the big Super 8 Motel, which was very nice. Thanks to the tip from Snoopy's new best friend coach, we found this little jewel of a place.

There were several restaurants around the motel, so the kids got to eat where they wanted. Snoopy wanted Taco Bell, so I ate KFC which was located in the same restaurant. We had a student who got--and I'm not making this up--5 bean burritos and 5 tacos (Snoopy & I talked him down from 10 bean burritos.). I pity the fool who was his roommate. Actually there were 3 fools. Even the girls said everywhere this little dude went, a smelly odor followed. Well, my choice of fried chicken, mashed potatoes and gravy, cole slaw, and biscuit proved a winning one. That is always a good choice for me.

On Saturday, we got up, had a leisurely breakfast and then proceeded to the site. It was cool with a brisk wind on Saturday morning that made for a chilly situation. The course was difficult for our kids because of all the hills. We just don't have that many where we are.

The girls finished 19 of 22 and the boys 23 of 29 in the state. It was an excellent experience for all of us. Though we all were quiet and totally exhausted upon our return Saturday night around 8:30, we had a fantastic time.

I hope we re-live this experience next year with better results!

More Cooking!

Well, yesterday, that is. I cut up some skinless, boneless chicken breasts and put them in a skillet with some olive oil that I'd put garlic powder, onion powder, and ground cayenne pepper in. I just cooked it down until the chicken was done. I then added some sweet barbeque sauce. Wow! How tasty. I'm going to have to cook more often.

Tired. Going to Carrolton tomorrow for state cross-country meet Saturday. Go us!

It Was a Good B-day!

School was good. I got sung to twice over the intercom. Exciting! Thanks to Snoopy's students. Fiona also was part of a sing-along with Snoopy.

Then Hippy Chick cut my hair. Then the wrap restaurant. DELICIOUS! Next was ellipticizing with Mrs. C.

I know all this is SO exciting that you probably are crazy with jealousy. I know this is pretty weak, but I REALLY enjoyed my day.

Later.

P.S. Tomorrow is the region cross-country meet. Our boys think they can place. That's half the battle! Don't get me started on the emotional train-wreck that is our girls. Love them, mean it, but wow. All the dramz! UGH.

I'll let you know how things go.

I Am Happy and Tired

Today we had another cross-country meet. We have the nicest kids on the team. It was funny because when we went into the Dairy Queen, we were closely followed by one of the other teams. The other team screamed, hollered, and shoved their collective way into the DQ because it was a really small one. I looked at Snoopy and said, "I'm so glad that our kids are nice." To which she responded, "Me too." I know, what electrifying conversationalists we are. But that's beside the point, we're talking about high school kids here. BTW, as I'm fond of saying, our boys came in third and our girls came in second.

Also, I have to give a big long explanation about something stupid, but I can't NOT comment. My sister, Supermom, has a list, the Travolta list, on which she puts celebrities who SEEMED okay at one time, but have proven to be good 'uns. For example, last week because he wouldn't speak to Elizabeth Hasselbeck, Barry Manilow earned a spot on the Travolta list. (Did I mention how John Travolta earned his spot? He really doesn't acknowledge his son's situation which seems to be autistic-like because Scientology doesn't recognize those types of problems. If you notice Travolta and wife RARELY appear in public with Jett. http://www.hollywoodinterrupted.com/archives/a_plea_from_hollywood_john_travolta_open_your_heart.phtml
You'll see them with Ella Bleu at premieres, etc., but never with Jett.) I am not a subscriber to the list, although I was disappointed in Barry {Oh, how I love the Copa, don't fall in love!}. Really, I understand the whole Rose O'Donnell debacle and all, but she's not going to scratch his eyes out or something. Okay. All that. ANYWAY, it's about Kevin Spacey. Why, in the wide world of sports is he going down to Venezuela to see that guy? I don't understand. If anyone out there has an idea, please let me know. I've actually worked with some successful business people from Venezuela and they all think that Chavez is Rancho Cucamonga. Why Kevin, why? Keyser Soze? The GENIUS of geniuses in American Beauty. Ugh!

Have I said lately how much I love my job? I SO do. So, that's what I wish for you, that you are happy to get up and go to work every day.

Cross-Country Team Wins

Whoa! Today it was AWESOME. Both boys' and girls' teams won! It's fantastic. I'm SO excited. We went up against a couple of teams in our region, so the competition was early season, slightly slow, but the kids were unbelievable. Snoopy is the coach. Go Snoopy!

It's only 8:00, but I could go to bed right now. I think I'll stay up a little longer. It seems as if I can't get enough sleep, but leaving here before 6:00 doesn't quite allow me to get my full night's rest. I actually seem to be more productive when I work in the quiet building EARLY in the morning. I am gonna go to bed early. I love when I get an early-to-bed early in the week.

Sorry I can't contribute more. I'll check in tomorrow!
