It's Going to Be a Changing Day (with apologies to Dr. Phil)

Hey, I may never be the same. I watched TWO, yes TWO movies today. The first was The Prestige. Hugh Jackman is a wonder and Christian Bale is very good. But, no one can hold a candle to the inimitable Michael Caine. He is AWESOME. This movie is SO enthralling. I really enjoyed it!

BUT, I will never be the same for I have seen The Godfather. Wow, how good was this movie!?! I was so happy that it REALLY lives up to the hype. The initial wedding scene was a little draggy, but it was necessary for little details to be divulged all at the same time, I suppose. BTW, who am I to question Francis Ford Coppola's methods. I know my role and am shutting my hole. It IS a great movie. I can't wait to see parts 2 and 3.

Another thing. How fantastic is Robert Duvall? I didn't even know he was in these movies. He is so excellent in everything that he has ever done. Ramling Rose and The Prophet are two excellent movies also, but I had no idea how powerful his performance is in The Godfather.
Big ups to my friend Snoopy who not only recommended these movies, but also let me borrow them from her vast DVD library! Thanks, friend!

More Cooking!

Well, yesterday, that is. I cut up some skinless, boneless chicken breasts and put them in a skillet with some olive oil that I'd put garlic powder, onion powder, and ground cayenne pepper in. I just cooked it down until the chicken was done. I then added some sweet barbeque sauce. Wow! How tasty. I'm going to have to cook more often.

Tired. Going to Carrolton tomorrow for state cross-country meet Saturday. Go us!

Productivity

Today, I came home and became a domestic goddess. I made some individual quiches that I'd been wanting to make. I saw the recipe on Eating Well. It is little individual quiches made in a muffin tin. There's eggs, milk, scallions, shiitake mushrooms, turkey sausage, and a whole lotta love in those things. It actually made 12 regular-sized muffin cups full with a little left over for a cook's treat. Oh yeah, it had Swiss cheese in it too. I used Baby Swiss, since its taste is a little gentler. It is a good concoction. The recipe said freezing is cool and gives microwave warm-up instructions.

The kitchen is clean after my cooking, so that's a plus for me.

Until later!

I'm Tired

I feel totally ripped off. The whole "fall back" hoopla has left me exhausted. I woke up sixish this morning. Of course, church & Wal*Mart. I took a quick nap, saw some of the MOST STUPID EVER people on the Savannah mayor's debate. Even the moderators were foolish. UGGGHH!

To the gym. Elliptical and then BodyPump. Then a nice smoothie with Hippy Chick and Tiny Hippy Chick who can tell some awesome (and verbose) stories. Then I stopped by Sonny's for barbeque.

I have just vegged since. I think I'll nap now.

'Night.

Living Up to the Hype

How sickening is it to see the trailer for a film, be all excited about seeing it, get to the theatre, and then be completely underwhelmed by the picture? Well, that is absolutely NOT the case with American Gangster. This movie delivers all it promises in the trailer and more. It is true that both Mr. Washington and Mr. Crowe are consummate professionals and have done this kind of thing before, but the story is the star of this movie. It is riveting. Enough time is spent on each aspect of the wide-spread story, but not so much that you wind up feeling that the movie is chasing rabbits. I give it a definite thumbs up. I also predict, and this doesn't take a genius, that there may be some kind of record set. In our theatre at the 5ish showing, people who came in close to start time couldn't sit together. The movie is also long, but it doesn't seems as if it's very long.
Bubba, Sr. and Granny came to visit today and we had a nice time. They really enjoyed visiting with The Child (and Supermom and me).

Also, my sister has requested that y'all go vote for Coach Chris Hatcher on http://www.coachoftheyear.com/. He's really a good dude and the football coach of Georgia Southern. I have to admit that I'm gonna go over there and vote for Coach Mark Richt. So, if you don't vote for one of those guys, vote for some nice guy near you!

Until later!
Okay, what is the deal? I've added spaces in between the paragraph about the movie and the one that is about Bubba, Sr. and Granny forty times, but it won't show up. ARRRRRGH! What's up with that?

Had to Blog!

How about this: Mrs. C. and I met at the gym this morning at 8:00. Wow, we got through, dropped off my car for service, went and got coffee, browsed and bought at the bookstore, and then picked up my car. What a number one morning!

After all that I darted to the storage unit to get some "wintry" items, since the wind kicked up this morning and was chilly. Anyone from the north feel free to mock me because it's maybe 50ish this morning. For around here though, that's a little nippy. I'll take your mocking, because when the north shuts down schools because of heat, I just laugh. My elementary school had NO air conditioning and we went well into June. Ugh. I love hot air blown around a classroom tainted by the smell of crayons and paste. You know that smell, don't you?

I was just so happy to have accomplished my ellipticizing and quality time with Mrs. Beth, I wanted to share. Happy Saturday to y'all!

Friday, What's Up!?!

Hi, I'm having a happening Friday. We had our last football game tonight, unless another team in our region can win a game next week. We are not in control of our destiny; someone else is. It's a uncomfortable feeling, but alas, getting in is getting in, right? We'd have to play the #1 seed from the other side of the region which would mean probably having our buttocks handed to us, one in each hand. But then again, there's Appalachain State, so who am I to assume anything. I suppose I'd better wait for us to get into the playoff prior to planning on what's gonna happen when we get there.

This afternoon, Snoopy and I watched an episode of Gomer Pyle, U.S.M.C. I have no idea how long it's been since I've seen one of those. I used to watch it nearly every day. I can't believe it. Wow, it's S-A-P-P-Y! But wow, how entertaining! I forgot how Jim Nabors can light up a screen with his hayseediness. "Well, back in Mayberry. . ." It was an episode that featured his singing. It was a lovely trip down memory lane.

The Child is going through potty training. Actually, it's Supermom who's going through potty training. She said that he's asked OH, SO many times and had nothing to contribute to the potty. Well, that's the price of being a mommy. There are many benefits to being a mommy, potty training is not one.

Tomorrow Granny and Bubba, Sr. are coming for a visit. They've not been in a while, so I'm looking forward to seeing them. Daddy had a port put in so that they can have the home-health care people do the pseudo-dialysis. Well, I'm hoping that this helps Bubba, Sr. to feel better. He's been extremely tired lately.

Watching The Soup. Joel McHale is a genius. What is it about mocking all the stupid shows? I so love him. He's predictable at times, but mostly good.

Hey, more tomorrow?

Planning on seeing American Gangster tomorrow. I'll file a report.

Enjoy your Saturday!
